Two local school counselors were recently recognized for going above and beyond to help their students.

Jessica Tibbitts, counselor for Pickford Public Schools, and Susy Talentino, counselor for Sault's Malcolm High School, were both recognized by the Michigan School Counselor Fellows Program for their efforts to help kids with the issues they face the most.

Tibbitts is in her eighth year at Pickford schools, serving as counselor for all students K-12. Originally from Holland, Michigan, Tibbitts has worked with children for most of her career. She said she chose this path because it allows her to help kids get on the right path before they need intervention.
