Child hit by pickup truck after getting off bus near South Wilcrest Drive in Alief area, METRO says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- METRO officials are investigating after they say a child getting off a bus was hit by a truck in the Alief area on Monday.

The incident happened in the 10600 block of South Wilcrest Drive at about 6:23 p.m., according to METRO.

Authorities said the child was getting off the bus and looked before crossing, but did not see an oncoming pickup truck, whose driver allegedly did not stop after hitting the child.

METRO said the bus operator witnessed the incident but was not involved.

The child, who officials say was awake and alert, was taken to the hospital.

An investigation into the incident remains underway.
