ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WBAY) - Years in the making, the National Railroad Museum’s expansion in Ashwaubenon is nearly complete.

This weekend, everyone will have a chance to see the new addition.

It’s an extension of the Lenfesty Center. The walls are made of glass to bathe the trains in natural sunlight and provide a view of the Fox River.

The center will house four trains and be available for various museum programming.

“Our outdoor spaces weren’t as accessible as we wanted them to be, and when you’re talking about weather in Wisconsin it changes day to day, and if we have 300 kids here and it starts to rain you can’t put them all outside. So, this building is going to be vital for us to accommodate more kids and more programs,” CEO Jacqueline Frank said.
