AMES, Iowa —
A chainsaw artist is transforming a tree in Ames that was struck by lightning this summer into a masterpiece.
Staff from Reiman Gardens say a storm took two cypress trees in Bald Cypress Alley back in July. That led to a major cleanup and questions about what would happen to the trees.
Andy Klindt, from the Des Moines area, stepped in to help. He has been doing wood art for 15 years.
Now, Klindt is working to bring the tree back to life through art by creating a floral theme with the wood, while trying to preserve the branches.
