YOUNGSTOWN A man convicted in the 2021 shooting death of 4-year-old Rowan Sweeney is at the Mahoning County Jail for a re-sentencing hearing. Brandon Crump, 26, is scheduled to appear before Judge Anthony D'Apolito at 11 a.m. today.

The hearing is a result of a partial re-sentencing order from the Seventh Appellate District Court of Appeals. The court recently upheld Crump's convictions, including aggravated murder, but found that his conspiracy conviction should be merged with convictions for aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary.

The procedural measure is designed to prevent someone from being penalized for multiple offenses stemming from the same criminal act and is not expected to alter the length of his overall prison term.
