Longtime Hollywood icon, heartthrob Robert Redford dead at 89

Longtime Hollywood icon and heartthrob, Robert Redford, has passed away at 89, according to multiple reports, including the New York Times .

The “Butch Cassidy” and “All the President’s Men” star died in his sleep at his home in the mountains outside of Provo, Utah this morning.

Redford won two Oscar Awards, including for Best Director for “Ordinary People” in 1984. He was also nominated for Best Director for “Quiz Show” in 1995 and for Best Actor for “The Sting” in 1973.

Some of Redford’s best movies include: “All is Lost,” “The Sting,” “The Natural,” “Sneakers,” “Out of Africa,” “The Chase,” and “The Candidate.”

Redford was also a big supporter of filmmakers, founding the Sundance Institute and then starting the Sundance Film Festival in 1984.
