Thieves hit the storage units at J.J. Collett Natural Area twice in the past couple of weeks, targeting the non-profit for its tools, equipment, and even toiletries.

The first time the culprits broke in was around Aug. 24.

That time, the thieves cut the chain on the gate to the staging area, drove in and cut the locks of the sea cans where the tools and equipment were stored, making off with chainsaws, trimmers, several containers of fuel, and even a couple boxes of toilet paper and paper towel, according to foundation president Jack Surbey.

When volunteers came to cut trails on Monday, Aug. 25, they noticed the theft and reported it to the RCMP.
