A Plymouth Subway sandwich store has been ordered to make major improvements to its standards after a recent food hygiene inspection.

The Old Town Street restaurant has been told it needs 'major improvement necessary' after the visit by food hygiene inspectors on August 5, 2025.

The food safety officer looked at three categories during the visit. The hygienic food handling category, which looks at how food is prepared, cooked, re-heated, cooled and stored, was found to be 'generally satisfactory'.

In the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building category it was found to need 'improvement necessary'. This category looks at whether the building has an appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control, to enable good food hygiene.
