GEORGETOWN, Ohio (WXIX) - One of the two Brown County jail inmates who escaped overnight is under arrest across the Ohio River in Northern Kentucky, according to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.

Roy Gene Butler and Jerry Lee Cooper damaged a security window at the jail and fled through the impound lot at the Brown County Sheriff’s Office between 10:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Monday, Sheriff Christopher Hodges said in a news release early Tuesday.

Butler, 51, is in custody after he was spotted in the Dover area, Mason County sheriff’s officials announced on social media around 10 a.m.

Cooper, 48, remains at large and is believed to be in the area near the Mason/Bracken County line, according to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.
