Downtown Edmonton’s crisscrossing pedways can be confusing the residents on the best of days and trying to describe where you are located in the pedway system while trying to handle a medical emergency can be even more challenging.
The City of Edmonton is implementing the Pedway Unique Identifier Program (UID) in many of the city’s pedways, pedestrian bridges, LRT tunnels and public corridors to allow users to navigate the maze a little easier.
The system will also provide a way for Edmontonians or visitors to direct first responders to the site of an incident in a quicker and easier manner.
