A Bridgeport man is in critical condition after the motorcycle he was driving hit a tree on Monday afternoon, according to police.

Officers, firefighters and paramedics responded to the 900 block of Briarwood Avenue just after 5:30 p.m. when several people called 911 and said a motorcyclist hit a tree and he was on the ground and not responding, police said.

Based on the preliminary investigation, police said the motorcyclist, a 32-year-old Bridgeport man, hit the curb, struck a tree and sustained serious injuries.

The Bridgeport Police Traffic Division is investigating the crash.
