Law enforcement agencies participating in an initiative aimed at preventing fatal crashes and improving road safety issued 529 citations during the summer, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.

Police conducted six, four hour operations across the county and stopped 660 motor vehicles as part of the County of Atlantic Reduction and Enforcement of Fatal Crashes Task Force.

Authorities also towed 14 vehicles and made 11 arrests, the Prosecutor's Office said.

The goal of the initiative is to address behaviors such as speeding, distracted driving, impaired driving and pedestrian safety violations, the Prosecutor’s Office said.
