Indiana Conservation Officers recovered the body of a Ligonier man who went fishing in Noble County, but did not return Monday, a news release said today.

Officers were notified about 8:50 a.m. of a missing person, Michael W. Vinson, 47, who had not returned home from a trip to Engle Lake, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources said in a news release.

Officers who went to the lake found a kayak, paddle, and fishing equipment floating in the water and, using a side-scan sonar, were able to locate Vinson. DNR law enforcement divers were able to recover Vinson's body about 4 p.m. after he was discovered in 25 feet of water.

The incident is still under investigation, the news release said.
