OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - After retiring, Bill Howard decided to put on shades.

”This is a Lotus lamp.” he explained.

Bill and his wife own Rising Lotus Boutique , selling unique items for the home.

“You got to get them imported from Turkey, they’re all handmade, and special ordered,” Bill said.

Placing an order is what Howard though a couple was going to do after window shopping around 11 p.m. on a Saturday night.

”And it shows them in their car looking at the products. Then they back out then a few minutes later this happens. Smash.” shop owner Tabitha Howard said.

A thief smashed and grabbed two expensive lamps, together valued at $400. That price included the 30% tariff that Howards paid.

“We don’t pass the tariffs off to the customers. We kind of just eat that and then they smash
