SHEPHERDSTOWN — Shepherd University President Dr. Mary J.C. Hendrix announced that she will be stepping down at the end of the school year. She made the announcement during the Shepherd University Board of Governors meeting on Sept. 11.

Hendrix took the position in 2016, meaning she has served for 10 years. She is the school’s 16th president and is the first Shepherd graduate to return and take on the president role. She earned a Bachelor of Science in pre-med/biology and continued her education at George Washington University where she earned her Ph.D in anatomical sciences.
