One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Langley Township Monday evening.

The Langley RCMP says officers responded to a reported crash on 256 Street near 48 Avenue around 6:20 p.m.

Images from the scene show both badly-damaged cars had left the road.

Police say one driver died, despite life-saving efforts.

The road was closed for several hours as members of the Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) investigated.

“The circumstances leading to this tragic collision remain under investigation, but impairment has been ruled out,” Mounties explained.

The Langley RCMP says it was the fifth fatal collision in six weeks.
