Nebraska students are adjusting to a new law, LB 140, which bans cellphones on school grounds, aiming to reduce distractions and improve focus in classrooms.
Burke junior Callie Huffman shared her past habit of using her phone after completing assignments, saying, "Last year I would do my assignment and after I was done, I would just go on my phone." She noted that in seventh and eighth grade, the cellphone policy was not enforced, allowing her to use her phone freely during classes.
Burke senior Ban Puoch echoed similar sentiments, admitting that her phone addiction added to her workload. "Even when I had the time to do it at school, I would take it home just to be on my phone," she said.
