City dwellers spend more time outdoors than countryside residents, study reveals

City dwellers are spending more time outdoors than those living in rural areas, according to a recent study. The survey of 2,000 adults revealed that urban residents spend an average of one hour and 17 minutes outside each day – over 10 minutes more than their suburban counterparts.

However, over half of city folk admitted that this time is primarily spent commuting rather than enjoying nature.

The research also underscored a growing disconnection from nature among younger generations, with 44 per cent of Gen Z and 36 per cent of Millennials feeling less connected to the great outdoors compared to older demographics.
