Exact age Brits start to feel more like a 'caregiver than a child'

Adults commonly 'reverse roles' with their parents at the age of 48, transforming into more of a carer than a child, research has shown. The study of 500 adults aged 50 and above discovered that 54 per cent believe they have exchanged positions with their mum or dad, typically when their parents reach 73.

From this point, many discover themselves assisting their parents with comprehending official paperwork or digital technology, and assuming greater duties such as driving, overseeing finances, and managing household upkeep. The research, commissioned by Consultus Care and Nursing, discovered that for a quarter of adults, this role swap occurred sooner than anticipated.
