CHESTERTON, Ind. — A 23-year-old northern Indiana man was arrested in connection to a fake active shooter threat at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
Jackson Fleming, of Chesterton, Indiana, is facing a charge of transmitting a threat in interstate communication.
According to the FBI, Fleming was arrested Sept. 12 — the day after the threat.
The active shooter threat and posts anonymously on a chat platform led to a campus lockdown.
The threat claimed the shooter was posing as law enforcement.
During that lockdown, a midshipman was injured after mistaking an officer for a shooter. The midshipman clubbed base security in the head with a parade rifle and was then shot in the arm.
The FBI then began investigating the threat.
