LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - A lawsuit has been filed after a distracted semi-truck driver struck two Lubbock County Sheriff’s deputies and three members of a family on the I-27 overpass.

On September 8, deputies Andrew Cavazos and Jorge Martinez stopped to assist the Martinez family after they had a blowout along the Interstate at 98th Street.

The two deputies were pinned between their unit and the concrete barrier after an 18-wheeler struck the parked patrol car. Deputy Cavazos was left dangling over the side of the bridge.
