Nanaimo's Ethan Katzberg repeated as world hammer throw champion, setting a new personal best.
Katzberg won gold Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, launching the hammer 84.70 metres, which was not only a personal best, but also a Canadian record and a world championships record.
For good measure, he also recorded the second and third longest throws of the finals at 83.73m and 83.07m.
“Coming off the season that everybody's had, I knew it was going to be a very strong field. I didn't think four people were going to throw over 82 metres. I don't know if that's ever happened.
