During a first-round showdown between Ryan O’Rear and Paul Mitzel at the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship on Monday, fans would be treated to quite the bout that would end terribly for one of the players.
Mitzel and O’Rear put on a show Monday at the U.S. Mid-Amateur, held at Troon Country Club in Scottsdale, Arizona this week.
Both players each took seven holes of regulation, with all but two of them going in via birdie. They would trade pars at the par-4 18th and send the match to extra holes.
