A man who allegedly shot a Boston police officer Friday during a foot chase in Roxbury before officers returned fire was arraigned Monday in connection with the chaotic incident.
Daiquan L. Rice, 31, who was shot multiple times, pleaded not guilty in Roxbury Municipal Court to an array of charges, including attempted murder and a number of gun-related offenses, legal filings show.
Judge David J. Breen ordered Rice held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on Sept. 23, records show.
“Mr. Rice adamantly denies the charges and is in the hospital having suffered serious injuries,” his lawyer, James Greenberg, said by email.
Police said that Rice was part of a group of people loitering in African American Veterans Memorial Park early Friday.
