MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) - The City of Moline broke ground on a $120 M upgrade to the South Slope Wastewater Treatment Plant, marking the start of a multi-year project to modernize one of the city’s most critical infrastructure facilities, city leaders said.

The South Slope Wastewater Treatment Plant is located at 2800 48th Avenue and serves as the Rock River Valley Regional Sewer System for the City of Moline, Coal Valley, and portions of East Moline.

The project is expected to be completed in phases through 2029 and will replace outdated facilities, equipment and systems with more modern and efficient technology, city leaders said.
