The Red Sox had several pitching decisions to make over the weekend, manager Alex Cora said Friday. Namely, how to best utilize their trio of new left-handers: Kyle Harrison and rookies Payton Tolle and Connelly Early.

After an off-day Monday, Cora announced the temporary plan for the trio: with Early starting Tuesday against the visiting Athletics, both Tolle and Harrison will be available out of the bullpen.

“He pitched well against them, he has good stuff, so we’ll roll with him,” Cora explained of the decision to start Early, who made his big-league debut against the A’s in Sacramento last week. “It was going to be a challenge for Tolle, it was going to be a challenge for Harrison, right, so we decided it was (Early), and we’ll see how it goes.”
