New stores and restaurants have opened in Lighthouse Place Premium Outlets mall in downtown Michigan City.

Theatre on Skates Academy opened across from Chico's and next to Calvin Klein at the nautically themed outdoor outlet mall at the site of the former Pullman railcar factory in downtown Michigan City. It's a nonprofit theater program that combines skating, singing and acting, Simon Properties spokesman Christain Carlson said. It aims to promote figure skating for people of all ages and abilities and foster development in the performing arts.

Theatre on Skates Academy is a member of U.S. Figure Skating's Learn to Skate USA program that trains participants on synthetic ice, offering both group and private instruction, Carlson said.
