A Griffith firm is looking to redevelop the Harley-Davidson dealership that has sat vacant for years in Munster, but some town officials have reservations about it using the site for its business.

Precision Control Systems wants to move its headquarters from Griffith to Munster. The HVAC commercial contractor hopes to take over the former motorcycle dealership at 10350 Calumet Ave. Harley-Davidson closed in 2020 after more than three decades.

The Munster Board of Zoning Appeals voted unanimously last month not to recommend a plan that would let the firm operate a warehouse out of the former dealership. The Town Council will have the final say on the project.
