Minnesota Vikings reuniting with running back amid Aaron Jones injury

The Minnesota Vikings have an injury concern with running back Aaron Jones, so they're adding a veteran rusher to the roster.

According to Aaron Wilson of Click2Houston.com, the Vikings are signing veteran running back Cam Akers . It isn't clear if he'll be added to the practice squad of 53-man roster.

The move comes after Jones suffered a hamstring injury in Week 2. Head coach Kevin O'Connell noted that Jones isn't expected to play in Week 3.

Akers appeared in six games with the Vikings in 2023, and then in 12 games in 2024. Last season, he tallied 64 carries for 297 yards and one touchdown while also adding 10 receptions for 52 yards and another two scores.
