An Amtrak conductor was injured Tuesday morning when his passenger train collided with a semitrailer northeast of Denver, according to Colorado State Patrol.
Amtrak Train 5 was traveling Tuesday from Chicago to the San Francisco Bay area when it hit the semitrailer east of Denver at about 6:30 a.m., spokesperson Marc Magliari said.
The crash happened on an Interstate 76 frontage road near Roggen in Weld County, Colorado State Patrol spokesperson Gabriel Moltrer said.
None of the 174 passengers on board was injured, Magliari said.
Moltrer said one of the train conductors, a 40-year-old Denver man, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Paramedics took the second conductor, a 33-year-old Denver man, to the hospital for evaluation with no injuries, Moltrer said.
