Wayne Rogers, former chairman of the Jefferson County Democratic Party, said he will enter the race for Alabama Secretary of State despite long odds in a deeply red state.
“The way to turn the power of regular people into real results that make all our lives better is to vote,” Rogers said. “I have lived and voted in Alabama my whole life, and I am ready to bring small town Alabama values to Montgomery in 2026.”
The secretary of state is the chief elections officer for the state and maintains official state records.
On the Republican side, current State Auditor Andrew Sorrell and Montgomery attorney Caroleene Dobson have also announced campaigns for the office.
