JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) - After the new Johnson City last call ordinance that prohibits alcohol sales at establishments after 1 a.m. went into effect, local business owner Michael Trivette said he'll be closing his doors and attempting to sell the property at New Beginnings Nightclub.
Trivette has owned New Beginnings for 37 years and said the last call ordinance was "part of the nail in the coffin" to close and sell his business, and is saddened by what he claimed was the city not taking people's livelihoods into consideration.
"We have a staff of about 30 or 40, and they're concerned about their jobs and their livelihood," said Trivette. "I think that is something, very sadly, that the city has not taken into concern is how many people, how many people's jobs this has cost."
