A man was arrested for obstruction of justice and possession of child sexual abuse material after he allegedly claimed to be the person who shot the CEO and cofounder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk.

According to the Utah County Sheriff's Office, George Zinn was attending the debate hosted by Turning Point USA at Orem's Utah Valley University last Wednesday, where Kirk was fatally shot.

"Shorty after that shooting occurred, and while people were fleeing the area, Zinn was seen yelling that he had shot Charlie Kirk," a press release issued by the agency states. "UVU Police took Zinn into custody and transported him to the UVU Police department."

The Sheriff's Office states that Zinn did not cooperate with law enforcement and "did not want to speak with investigators."
