Dragon Ball Z is one of the most important anime series ever. Not only was it highly influential during its heyday, but it helped to deliver anime to the West in the early 2000s, and has remained incredibly popular in the decades since. However, it's by no means a perfect series.

Many of Dragon Ball Z 's issues stem from age and its production, rather than the story itself or the characters that play central roles. In the years since its premiere, other shows have arrived that accomplish what Dragon Ball Z set out to do, only much more effectively, and fans of the classic series are likely to enjoy them.
