NEEDHAM — It looked like a mismatch on paper. However, a frisky Walpole girls soccer team forced a 1-1 tie against Bay State Conference foe Needham.
Needham (4-0-1) entered Tuesday’s contest against the Timberwolves with an unblemished record, while Walpole (0-3-2) was coming off its first tie against Framingham after starting the season 0-3.
Needham dominated the game in possession, holding the ball for about 70 percent of the match, but Walpole was able to keep the ball to the outside and benefitted from excellent play from goalkeeper Victoria Terzyiska.
While his team couldn’t claim its first win, Walpole head coach Peter Salmans said the effort was still a significant step in the right direction.
