LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — Nevada residents who carefully monitor when they use energy-hungry appliances may need to adjust their habits as NV Energy prepares to implement a new personalized billing system.
The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada approved NV Energy’s request Tuesday to charge customers based on when individual households use the most power, rather than during set peak periods with uniform high rates. The change takes effect in April.
Currently, all customers face the same peak periods with the highest electricity rates. Under the new system, those periods will vary from household to household based on individual usage patterns.
