LENOIR CITY, Tenn. (WATE) — Lenoir City Utilities Board is asking the public to avoid the area of the Allenbrook Subdivision on Tuesday after a gas line was struck by lightning.
According to a Facebook post by the utilities provider, just before 7 p.m., a gas main on Edinburgh Drive in the Allenbrook neighborhood was struck by lightning. The post included two photos of a tree on fire.
Gas service in the area will be off until repairs are made. The public is asked to avoid the area while utility crews and emergency personnel respond to the scene. The post added that there will be a strong odor of gas in the area.
