NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Nashville is becoming a destination city with almost 17 million visitors last year alone. But with the growth comes growing pains, and Shane Sakkinen says he experienced a perfect example of it when he landed at the Nashville International Airport (BNA) Monday night.

“At the point that I landed, my ride said they had been in the area two miles from the airport since 7:30 p.m., and it took them until 10 p.m. to get to the pickup lane to pick me up,” resident Sakkinen told WSMV.

People sat in gridlocked traffic for hours trying to get in and out of the airport. Adrienne Pacheco says it took her three hours to make the usually five-minute drive from her house to drop off some friends at BNA.
