Attorney General Pam Bondi is playing with fire; she seems to have thrown caution to the wind. One has to wonder if she’s truly qualified to be the Attorney General of the United States.

On Monday, she told a popular podcaster: “There’s free speech and then there’s hate speech, and there is no place, especially now, especially after what happened to Charlie (Kirk), in our society… We will absolutely target you, go after you, if you are targeting anyone with hate speech.”

Bondi knows full well hate speech is protected. The Supreme Court has said time and again that government cannot prosecute speech simply because it is hateful. As vile and loathsome as the Westboro Baptist Church’s protests were, the Court ruled – rightly – their speech was still protected under the First Amendment.
