BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The torture and murder of 8-year-old Genesis Mata back in August fueled a torrent of community outrage. The anger was aimed not only at the little girl's parents, but also at Child Protective Services, the county agency in charge of investigating cases of child abuse.

17 News originally sought a tour of the CPS department in the Department of Human Services building but was denied due to confidentiality issues related to filming.
