INDIANAPOLIS — A new state initiative plans to focus on employee upskilling efforts.
Gov. Mike Braun and the Office of Commerce on Tuesday launched the new “Power Up Indiana.”
“Only half of employed Hoosiers are satisfied with their skills training or advancement opportunities,” Braun said. “Sixty percent are willing to obtain additional training. That why we have launched Power Up Indiana.”
Utilizing $10 million appropriated by the Legislature, the program will provide grants to employers to offer training, certifications and leadership pathways.
The goal is for employees to have upward mobility and be able to move into higher paying, open positions.
Businesses of any size can apply for reimbursements.
Braun said the grants are $50,000 per employer and $5,000 per employee.
