TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The U.S. House of Representatives on Monday passed a bill that allows healthcare professionals outside of the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide services for veterans in rural areas.

HR 3951 specifically expands the pool of providers able to perform disability exams, which make up a large portion of claims the Veterans Benefits Administration completes every year.

Rep. Juan Ciscomani said the bill “will reduce examiner shortages in rural areas, cut wait times, and accelerate the delivery of benefits to veterans.”
