SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Saratoga County leaders unanimously voted on Tuesday to move forward with the creation of an animal abuse registry.

It will collect the names of people who have been charged with animal abuse and prevent them from adopting or buying animals again.

Officials said it is an important first step to ensuring animal abusers are held accountable for their actions.
