SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - No one was injured after crews were called to an apartment fire in the Forest Park neighborhood of Springfield on Tuesday night.
According to Springfield Fire Commissioner BJ Calvi, the fire started on Ainsworth Street just around 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Calvi told 22News that residents on the street ran to the fire station, saying that a house was on fire, with flames coming from the second floor, which eventually spread to the third floor.
Neighbors went outside once they saw smoke. Gordon Wolcott told 22News, "I walked out in the living room, started smelling more smoke, my daughter came out of her bedroom, she said it was heavy with smoke, you could smell it, you could hear the chainsaws."
Springfield Fire Commissioner BJ Calvi says it was a second-alarm fire. I
