INGLIS, Fla. (WCJB) - The area which houses the dogs at the Inglis Animal Shelter used to be open, exposed to the elements, but their only animal control officer took it upon herself to change that.

“It was horrible looking, it really was, and it needed the cosmetics for many years,” shared Inglis Animal Control Officer Sheryl Pirzer.

Pirzer is the only animal control officer in the Town of Inglis, but this isn’t stopping her from taking on extra responsibilities to help the animals at the shelter. Earlier this year, she decided to raise money to redo their kennel area.

“I am somebody who likes to just go out there and say I would rather fail than say I didn’t do it,” Pirzer said. “And I had a lot of motivation from the community and people who believed in me.”
