CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cuyahoga County officials on Wednesday released the most detailed vision yet of what the new jail and sheriff’s complex will look like in Garfield Heights, and said the budget remains on target to meet previously announced estimates of just over $900 million.
The jail is expected to open in 2029 on 71 acres the county purchased along Transportation Boulevard, just off Interstate 480.
Designs include a three-story jail and three-story sheriff’s headquarters in separate wings and expanded on-site medical facilities compared to the existing jail downtown.
Design work will be completed by early October, after which the price will be firmed up to take to county council for approval around March of next year, officials said during an update to council’s Public Safety and Jus
