NEW SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) -- The community gathered on Tuesday to celebrate Springfield Township Fire Department's Chief Matthew Gebhardt, who served in the department for over 30 years.

Gebhardt joined the Springfield Township Fire Department in 1994, became chief in 2007 and served as chief until his retirement earlier this year.

During Tuesday's event at Fire Station 21, Gebhardt was presented with a plaque, a proclamation recognizing his leadership and decades of service, and plenty of familiar faces, with family, friends and fellow firefighters in attendance.

Upon retirement, Gebhardt still hasn't slowed down.
