DETROIT — As the regular season draws closer to a finish for the Detroit Tigers, every game is feeling more important and every start for Casey Mize is crucial.

Mize has dealt with inconsistencies and a stint on the injured list in the same season he made his first All-Star team.

A loss to the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday with the Tigers within arm’s reach of the American League Central title wasn’t ideal for Mize, however he’s also been showing some of his best stuff over his last three starts.
