WASHINGTON — The Washington Commanders could be playing football in the District once again by 2030 — but before that can happen, D.C. lawmakers need to finalize a key redevelopment deal.

The D.C. Council is expected to vote Tuesday on legislation that would pave the way for a major transformation of the RFK Stadium site, including the potential return of the Commanders. However, residents living near the site say they want firm commitments from city officials before the project moves forward.

"I'm cautiously optimistic," said Alexis Pazmiño, a Ward 7 resident who has been closely following the project.
