NEWBURGH, Ind. (WFIE) - Action at Newburgh’s Vann Road Park shows life could be getting back to normal after the nearby chemical fire 10 days ago.
The park is now back open to the public and softball games are starting up again.
“We’re coming back live real baseball here at Vann Park for the first time in two weeks. We’re really excited about that,” Newburgh Junior Baseball Commissioner Matt Minton said. “All of our 4 through 10-year-olds will be back at action at our six fields here. We’re really excited cause this is kicking off our 80th season.”
Minton says about 400 boys play on the baseball fields at Vann Road Park. He says, even though the fields were closed since the fire, the boys stayed active.
